Founded in 1947 by Roland Blow and Denis Cote, we began as road builders working the northeastern part of Vermont. In 1957 the business was incorporated and shortly after we added bridge building to our repertoire.During the mid-sixties, we were forced to include water and sewer line construction to our job description as the road and bridge building business went into a slump.Several small sitework projects were completed during this time and once the seventies arrived, we were performing work in all four areas: bridge, road, water and sewer. As we entered the eighties, bridges were becoming more complex, requiring the use of sheet piling for cofferdams and “H” piles for substructure support. To date we have repaired and built over 350 bridges and roads throughout Vermont and New Hampshire, including 11 covered bridges in Vermont, nearly 10% of all the covered bridges in the state.

In 1971, Denis bought Roland’s share of the corporation and retained the company name.He remained a part of the business until his death in 1988.Today, the corporation is entirely operated by Denis’ son Marc who continues to take pride in both the high quality and craftsmanship of any assignment taken on by Blow & Cote, Inc.
